Lubricators

The Stellarton Lubricators are installed at the wellhead to receive and cushion the impact of the Intermitter upon arrival at the surface. As an isolated chamber, the Lubricator is also designed to provide a method of servicing the wellbore under pressure without having to kill the well.

Lubricator

Application

Type A Lubricator

Lower pressure wells

Type B Lubricator

Higher pressure wells

Type BF (flanged)

Sour, high pressure wells

Type BHD

High pressure, high velocity wells

At the forefront of the design of Stellarton’s Lubricators are the inherent safety features. One of the safest lubricators on the market, the Stellarton Lubricator is specially designed with technology that absorbs high impacts nearly eliminating the risk of blow-outs.

Special Safety Features

  • Springs designed for highest strength and durability
  • One piece construction
  • Manufactured to the highest standards using API 6A Spec. 4140 steel, high alloy materials for increased durability in sweet and sour applications
  • Wireline bushing built into Manifold Assembly
  • Equipped with flanged connections for high pressure, sour applications
  • QuickThread system uses only 1 EUE
  • Designed for impacts of up to 46 ft/sec
  • Auto catcher to catch Intermitter for servicing
  • Lubricator length accommodates all Intermitter lengths

Component Features

Bumper Spring

  • Specially designed by the Spring Manufacturing Institute for maximum strength, durability and lifespan.
  • Length and distance between coils ensures maximum compression without the coils touching thus reducing failure and wear.

Choose from the following springs for your specific application:

    Chrome Silicon Spring Sweet Gas
Incoloy Spring Sour Gas (up to 4%)
MP35N Spring Sour Gas (over 4% and resistance to H2S

Type BF Lubricator (Flanged)

  • Manufactured from materials made specifically for sour gas wells and meets the industry’s stringent standards for hazardous service.
  • Designed to a 5000 psi pressure rating to match existing wellhead equipment and comply with API 6A specifications.
  • Tested by an independent third party (including hydrostatic, sharpi, impact, dye penetrant, mill certification and chemical analysis of metal) and comes complete with a “Birth Certificate”.

External Upset Thread System (EUE)

  • Removal of the Spring Housing from the Manifold assembly needs fewer turns than standard EUE’s.
  • Allows for easy repetitive inspection and servicing.
  • The low torque release Safety Seal permits maximum safety for disassembling the Lubricator’s components.
  • The Safety Seal threads from the Catcher Assembly seat eliminating the possibility of severe mechanical damage or personal injury.
  • Can be equipped with flanged connections for high-pressure sour gas applications for maximum safety.

Auto Catcher (Pneumatic) & Manual Catcher

  • Designed to allow the Intermitter to pass the catch key and when engaged positively catch and hold the Intermitter at surface.
  • Rugged design guarantees repetitive, problem free operation.
  • Easily adaptable to handle hazardous environments.
  • Works on both conventional and DynaFlow applications.
  • All catcher components are interchangeable across all Lubricator sizes.
